Track Motion help needed!

I'm setting up a title sequence for a magazine type show. I want still clips to move across the screen one after the other at the same rate of speed.
I have each still on its own track with track motion applied. The first one is fine but I can't get the next one to move at the same rate of speed. It seems like there's some kind of math involved that I'm not getting. Any one know how to do this?
Any help would be most appreciated.

Why not simply copy the keyframes and slide them to where they need to be? Or duplicate the track that is 'good' and then place the new media, with keyframes assigned, and then slid down.
If you want to mail me a veg, I'd be happy to set this up for you.

Are you referring to the fact that when you add motion the speed is not consistent? I had the same problem with doing pans and zooms where the pan would start slowly and then speed up and slow down again at a the end. I set the keyframe types to Linear but this didn't help. The trick is to set the Smoothness to 0%. This will keep the motion consistent through the entire keyframe sequence. It works the same for Track Motion too.

Johnny Roy and Douglas,
Thanks very much for the responses. And Douglas thanks for your generous offer. But, after much struggle, it finally works. The solution was that the first still only needed 2 keyframes to enter from screen right and exit screen left but the subsequent stills all needed 3 keyframes. One to enter (as the preceding still had just fully entered screen right), another keyframe when the preceding still had just exited screen left, and the final keyframe to take it out of the frame to the left. Without the middle keyframe, the second still needed to "catch up" with the first at the end, so the speed changed. (As you suggested Johnny, setting Smoothness to 0% is good here too.)
Hard to put into words! But I was missing a fundamental understanding of how keyframes work.

On the ame subject,
I can't seem to get the save preset of the keyframer to work. If I save a keyframe pattern and give it a name, it doesn't apply when I try to use the preset on another clip. Also, I can't find a way to copy more than 1 keyframe at a time. What am I missing here?

Thanks again

Hi D,

Presets only apply to single KFs... to copy a series, you can copy an entire event with the "lock KFs to events" button on the toolbar active; you can also drag a rectangle around Kfs in the KF-track of any effect and paste them into another.
There is some brief info here:

Thanks Marty,
I couldn't find the reference on your site but did learn to drag the rectangle, copy and paste as you suggested. A good tool. (It does seem that a preset should copy the whole set, I don't understand the logic of saving only a single KF.)
After getting all the stills working as I wanted, it looks too static so I'm replacing those stills with moving clips. I'll be quite familiar with KF's after this. : )
Thanks again for the help.

Glad you got it working. That smoothness thing had me going for a while. Vegas sure is powerful and it takes time to digest all the little nuances. Getting down the concept of keyframes opens up a lot of possibilities. They are very powerful. Good luck on your project.
