How come when I set a track motion keyframe to Linear, it still seems to ease in and out? I am setting the starting keyframe and the ending keyframe is set to 'Hold' if that matters.
it does matter
HOLD means whatever size and wherever you put the track it will stay that way
however, when you designate LINEAR--movement will occur
from the start of your keyframe to your ending keyframe----
the closer the points = the faster the movement
hope it helps

this is trackmotion timeline. keyframe 1 is set to 'Linear'. while 2 is set to 'Hold'. Following keyframe 2, the object is stationary. As you know, between keyframe 1 and 2 there is motion from point A to point B. But it is not linear by my eye. Between keyframe 1 and the first | it is very gradual as if it is ramping up to speed. From the first | to the second |, it is at constant velocity. Between the second | and keyframe 2 it slows down or 'eases out'. The effect is like a lunar lander putting retro rockets on to gradually land on the moon's surface. I understand these two concepts of Easing In and Out, but I thought they only applied to the Slow and Fast settings. I thought the whole point of linear was that it kept constant velocity in between said keyframe and the following one? I basically want a hard constant motion (think the original Pong game), not something that accelerates or slows down. Please note that the |'s are not actual objects in Vegas, but just devices I am using for my description.
I am having the same problem...Instead of continuous motion at a certain speed, the track motion is always easing in and out of the designated keyframe locations...
I would think that there should be a way to stop this...It seems more difficult to achieve this than it would be to just keep it at a constant speed.
