Track Motion Problem

Hello,

I'm having an issue with the track motion in VV3. What I wish to accomplish is to simply use the track motion to reduce the size and change the position of the motion video in the piece. This motion layer will sit atop a static, solid white layer containing a company logo and an index tab graphic. In effect I'm creating a picture in picture - the larger underlying white layer being full screen. I've assigned the motion video to the alpha channel (channel 1), and the static white graphic below it (channel 2). Both channel 1 & 2 have their compositing modes set to source alpha. I have no parent child relationship assigned between the 2 tracks.
What's happening is that my alpha track (motion video) which is relatively light in color dramatically darkens when its track motion is adjusted and overlaid upon the white static layer (channel 2). Obviously VV3 is creating some type of composite or luminance mask or key between the 2 channels. Neither channel has any masks, keys or effects assigned. I've tried changing every combination between the channels within the compositing mode, and have tried assigning a parent child relationship between the 2 channels to no avail. Can anyone assist me here?

Thanks in advance!

Errmmm.. maybe I've got this wrong. Have you set up your project like this:

1 - PLace the Video on the top track - Track 1

2 - Place the white block on track 2

3 - Go to Track Motion for Track 1

I've just done this - If you've done the same, then I'll rethink what and where you're up to - yeah?

Grazie That's correct.

After I posted the above message, I tried the same operation on a different machine, and I didn't experience the same problem. It would seem that VV3 is malfunctioning badly for whatever reason on the other machine. Anyone have the slightest idea as to what the heck could be wrong? This is one of several strange and deeply problematic issues I've had with VV3.0c. Worse yet, when I contact tech support, my VV3 problem de jour' always seems to be the first of its kind, and I'm cut loose without any solution. The problems to which I refer occured on 2 different, fairly new machines; it can't be that both machines are equally screwed up and VV3 is blameless.

Thanks

Steve M.

One thing that's wrong for sure is that you've been going about this the wrong way. You don't use alpha channel for PIP, you do it like Grazie said; simply, elegantly.

The usable is beautiful.

Or, like Frank Zappa said to characterize a type of audience: "If you can't dance to it, it can't be rock and roll. And if it isn't rock and roll the why are we here?"
