Training Videos for DVD Architect

mikesteven wrote on 4/29/2013, 10:05 PM
Are there any training videos on using DVD architect? I rendered my movie in Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12. I am having problems making menus with submenus for scene selection. The insert scene selection menu is grayed out. In movie studio I inserted chapter marks but I did not get any submenus when going to Architect. I have read the whole printed manual for architect.
Thanks,
Mike

Not to get too complicated before you begin - but just to make you aware. DVDArchitect Studio is a limited subset of DVDArchitect Pro which comes with SCS VegasPro. That means you cannot really do everything that the full code can do if you could have license to the full product.

There are many training videos from private sources as well as the SCS Training page, but they are meant to cover the full feature subset and they do not take time to explain what limitations (during the training info given) that you will have if you use the smaller Studio version.

Thirdly with regard to creating submenu's and handling scene selection menu's there is a considerable gulf between the official documentation of SCS and what you can actually achieve in practice.
In order to find out why that is, you need to do a lot of reading of the posts in this forum...thorough reading, please! Start by doing forum searches for "scene menus" and the like. You will get the idea. This forum is the best place for information to reach an understanding of what that gulf is and why it exists.

Bearing in mind what videoTguy has said, have a look under the links at the top of the forum page (Support - Training -Webinars) where there are at least two offering guidance about DVDA.

I've got a pretty thorough three- part, free Basic Training tutorial series on my site, if you're interested.

Thanks for the info. I will take a look on your site. I used to use Pinnacle Studio and had no problems, but there were glitches in the software. I really like the sony software.

Me too! Not only are DVD Architect Studio and DVD Architect Pro easy to use, but I've virtually never had a buggy problem with them with using an optimal workflow.

Steve,
I want to thank you for the training video links for DVDA. Once I viewed them, I was able to make my custom menus with additional buttons and burn the movie. I am now comfortable using DVDA.

Great news, Mike. I hope if you're looking for more detailed, step by step instruction you'll check out my book on Amazon.

Steve, sorry not trying to hi-jack this thread, but I am also interested in your DVD Architect book. I live in New Zealand and the Amazon shipping fee is almost the same as the book itself. Do you intend to offer a downloadable version of the book at some stage (Kindle maybe)?

Thanks,
David
