Transfer video from HVR-DR60 to Generic Drive

I will be shooting with an EX1 camera and Sony HVR-DR60 hard drive. I want to copy the video files from the DR-60 to a generic hard drive that I currently use for editing with Vegas 8.

My questions:

1. Is there any trick to copying the files from the DR-60 to my hard drive? My hard drive has both USB and firewire.

2. Will Vegas 8 recognize the video files, so that I can immediately begin editing them?

Any advice is appreciated!

Connect the DR60 via firewire, then in Vegas File / Import / Hard Disk Recording unit.

The reason you need to do it via Vegas file import is because that will reattach clips that go over the FAT32 4 gigabyte file size limit (which is about 20 minutes). If you don't have any clips this long you can simply copy the files to the new drive.
