Transferring .vf files from computer to laptop

I have my Sony Vegas 9 Platinum on my desktop as well as on my laptop. I do everything on my desktop, but would like to be able to work on my video footage on my laptop also. I've tried transferring it to a memory stick and then trying to open it in Vegas on my laptop, but it has been unsuccessful. Is it just a matter of how I render it or is there another way to accomplish this?

Hi snowy, your post is a bit confusing - are you only transferring the .vf files? if so, these only point to the footage - you need to transfer the footage as well. Easiest way is to "Save As" to your memory stick and check the "copy media with project" box. If you have the footage on your laptop and it won't play, you probably have a codec problem - you need the same codecs on your laptop as your desktop.

Rainy - thanks. It had to do with the rendering. I now have it on my laptop, but I have not had a chance to see if everything is working properly yet. I'll make sure I do the Save As next time. I am learning as I slowly move forward:)

To move your Project file + Media assets to another computer, which is what you must do, create a new folder, save the Project there with the "Copy media with project" box checked. That's all there is to it.

Musicvid - Okay, will try that tomorrow at some point. So then, the .vf extension that I am working with on my desktop in Sony Vegas will then show up on my copy of Sony Vegas on my laptop so that I can continue working on it if I follow your given directions, correct?
