Transition Problems

Titan365 wrote on 5/26/2018, 12:09 AM

So I have a video I have cut into a bunch of separate scenes now I'm trying to add the 3D wiggle preset warp transition between the scenes to make it a lil bit more presentable. However some of the scenes either aren't playing the transition in the preview, not transition between the two scenes just at the end of the scene, or just not showing up all together. I know the not showing up in the preview window might just be lag but, I don't know what would be causing the other two. I've mainly just drag and dropped the transition between the scenes and it works except for in-between a couple scenes. Is there a way to fix the scenes that aren't showing my transition or putting it on one side of the scene; Or do I have to overlap them?

The scene cuts with these are the ones I usually get the transition to work between:

As you can see:

The ones with these don't work:

For transitions to work in Vegas Pro, there needs to be crossfade between events or a fade-in/fade-out if there isn't an event before/after on the particular timeline track containing the event. The transition is then commonly dragged down over the crossfade or fade-in/out.

Yes, this is different to how some other NLEs action transitions.

I was able to fix the above problem by moving and realigning the clips farther along the down the page then moving them back to where I wanted them in the video. However found this one cut where I cant for the life of me add a transition they each have a fade in fade out just don't know what could be the problem.

Are you absolutely sure that the 2 events overlap each other prior to adding the transition? If they are overlapped first, there will be a default dissolve transition.

The reason I ask is that if the audio of each event is locked to the video - which is the default when you add an event to the timeline - an audio dissolve will also be created when the video events are overlapped. Your screen grab shows that the audio events are not overlapped which suggests that video events were not overlapped first. This is what it should look like before adding the transition:

Of course, you may have ungrouped the audio from the video before creating the dissolve; if so, then the audio events wouldn't have moved when you moved the video events.

I have been able to make the transitions by just drag and dropping the transition type I want inbetween the two clips. I have also found out the reason for those is the clips are overlapping just by a sliver and that I need to cut the clips on the frame sense quantize to frame is enabled.

I can't get a lot of transitions to work. I usually just do a cross fade but I wanted a clock. It doesn't work. Many others don't work either. This is a Sony transition, not a BlueFX or other third party. Barn door and flash work OK and some others, but many others don't. I just tried the clock in version 12 and it works fine so I know how to do it. I've used MovieMaker since 2011. This is the 2nd time I had to this because the first time I couldn't remove a blur effect to a track. Even removing the track, saving, and re-booting my computer didn't help. Now I have to start over for the third time because of this, and it will be in version 12. This version 14 is unusable for me. Lastly, having to click on all those stupid pictures just to get in here is nonsense.

Operator error. All of the things you have referred to work fine and have done for a long, long time.

could also be GPU driver update that killed it? Try disabling GPU acceleration.
