Im having trouble making an interview with alot of verbal mistakes look smooth on my edits.

the problem is the traqnsitions arnt looking good.

im guessing that i am not giving the transitions enough time to play so they look more like flickers.

what is the amount of time needed to make the transition play smooth and what if the 2 video clips are cut right at the desired in and out points with no extra frames to accomadate a transition? do i have to stretch or add frames ?

You can overlap one "event" over the other. The length of the overlap determines the time the transition takes. By default, if you set the proper option Vegas creates a smooth cross-fade some call a disolve.

An "event" in Vegas speak is simply a break in your source file to one or more new sections. Place cursor on timeline click, hit "S" and you'll split at that point creating two events.
