transitions

My cousin is using pinnacle (9 i think and about to move to liquid).
He made a video using version 9 and it has different wedding transitions. How do you get transitions like this into vegas. I made a simple one using a mask heart shaped and then animating a track motion parented over the video track. It worked alright except for the opaque was not perfect (you could just barely see the video via the heart).

But what if I want a boquet of flowers. Can anyone point me in a direction.

The best mask to use (IMO) is a white shape over transparency, where you set up a parent/child over the video track you are transitioning from. You can also use black & white - especially if the transition itself is animated (like the ones Kelly Chien sells).

Honestly, I haven't had need to do anything like this for some time, so there might be a better way to accomplish it in V6. But that's how I've done it in the past with V5.

All of the masking done in this video and the later part of this video were done using this technique.

The scond clips is called "Charting The Course," and it was done for my Chamber of Commerce a year ago. It has a lot of inside jokes that you wouldn't get unless you're local here, but there is some really interesting visual effects and they were all done in Vegas. There's a tutorial on the VASST site where I broke down how I did each section (I still get emails about it from time to time).

Hope this helps.
