I'm very new to this product so I'm learning as I go. How do I add transitions between the title page and the 1st clip? and the next clip of the vidoe? I tired to click and drop but it doesn't seem to work. Where exactly do I drop it?
The easiest way is to create a fade either on the ends of a clip or overlapping two clips. For starters put your cursor on the upper corner, beginning or end, of a clip, and you'll see a quarter circle shape. Click & drag the cursor for as long as you want your transition to be. You'll see a curved line showing your fade. Then just drag & drop a transition on top of your fade and tweak it.
I'm beyond frustration with this software..... I see quarter of the cirlce. I click on it and drag it but nothing happens. Fade remains at 0:00:00. What am I doing wrong?
Hi monia13,
AutoPilot is right, but maybe I can explain it a little different. The best way for a transition is to drag the clip on the right over the clip on the left. You will see a small box above telling you how long the overlap is (1 to 3 seconds is usually good). Then go to 'Transitions' and drag and drop the transition of your choice on the overlapped part of the two clips. It should be that easy. As for fades, put the cursor on the upper left or right corner of the clip and when you see the 90 degree symbol with an arc, click and drag it in the direction of the center of the clip as far as you need to get the amount of fade you are looking for. Let us know if this helps. Cin
Welcome to the Forum,
Which way are you draging the Quarter Circle? if you are at the beginning of the clip ( event) then you click and drag to the right, if at the end then drag to the left.
Also you have to do the same thing to the audio track to fade the sound,
the other way to and faster is to grab the clip and drag the whole thing over the other clip and that will create a crossfade. you will see by the numbers how much time it is, than you can drag a different transition onto that fade and it will change to that transition.
Hope this helps Vegas is different than other NLE's but once you figure it out it is a very fast way to edit.
Have you tried the "show me how tutorials that are built in" goto to help and click on the show me how button or if it is on your toolbar click on it. they are very good and are interactive.
Good luck and anytime you are frustrated just come here and ask there is always someone who can help
