Transitions caused a black fade in.

Hello all. First time to ask a question. So If I do something wrong please tell me.
Now,, I had my video all ready to render and just droped in the transitions. Used a crossfade transition and set it from zoom to none.. Just wanted a symple crossfade.. Most of the events turned pink highlight. When I preview the video it did the crossfade AND,,,,,, then,,, when black and faded into the event.. There was no black in the event. Just event cuts to event cuts.. Tried to remove the transition by changing it to a cut.. The black on the start of each event was still black,,,( like a fade in from black ) I just want to remove the transitions AND the Black and just use the Auto crossfade for now as I need need need to get this wedding done before this weekend.. How do I get back to the way I had it edited and ready for rendering??? How do I remove all of transitions?????

Right-mouse-button click on the transition and select Transitions / Crossfade, or press the / key on the numeric keypad.

You are making transitions by overlapping the clips on the same track, right?

As Kelly said, you do not make transitions in Vegas bu butting up two videos and dropping a transition on the junction. Some other NLE may work that way. You have got to overlap the ends of the events (the amount of overlap determines the duration of the transition) which will make a default dissolve. You can then drop any of the other transitions on that dissove to change it.

Hello,,,, Good information.. Thank you. I worked on it last night and found that the video had been streched out and the ,,, when I pulled the events apart the video extened pass the sound.. I pulled the video back to where the video and the audio matched up again and the pink highlingt when away. I also pulled back the video untill the video did not show black in the beging. Set the auto crossfade and draged the event to overlap the ends and GREAT. However there were some of the pink highlighed events that I could not get the pink highlight to go away. I pulled then out and pushed it toghther.. No chang... What is this pink highlight thing mean?? I rendered it out with some of the events still pink.. Hope I am Ok... I just started this Vegas software just a few week ago.
Thank You

If you overlap two video events Vegas will generate a cross fade. That means the end of the first event fades down as the beginning of the next video fades up. If you now move the events apart what can happen is the fade envelopes remain. The fade envelopes are controlling the transparency of the event, anything on a lower track will show through. If there's no lower track then superblack will show through unless you're rendering to a codec that supports an alpha channel, then you'll get transparent video during the fade.

The pink highlighted events sound to me like you've managed to get sound and vision out of sync and that could be quite bad or not. This can happen if you turn on Ignore Event Grouping. You should get an indication in the event of how many frame out of sync you are. Slide the video event or the matching audio event until it read zero, then the pink highlight should go away.

Last night I pulled the events apart and I did slide the video event back untill it matched up to the audio,,, and the pink when away..and so did the black frams . Most of them.. some of them even tho I slid them back and forward they stayed PINK... Thought about sound syn ...oh oh... Did not turn on event Grouping ignore..Justed started this program.. Please tell me more about how to get them back in sync...most of them did have the pink highlight go away.. All I did is drop a crossfade onto where the two events meet. and it turned pink.. I see a blue arrow changing just above the video. I that what you are talking about..Thank You BOB for you help... I am going to bed now and jump in this tomorrow...
