Transitions in slide shows

It's very easy to to fill up the unused space on a DVD for friends or relatives with slide shows of digital images. In fact my parents prefer them to the videos, so I guess I'm no Steven Spielberg.

Any chance of a choice of introducing a few transition effects to put between slides in future versions to keep the business of adding a little filler really simple?

Why not do the slideshow in VV4 where you have all transitions you can wish.
Then render as a video to DVDA.
I´ve done many slideshows that way and as you mention they are often apriciated
as much as videos.

Yes, because the way slideshows seem to be produced in DVD-A anyway are through MPEG2s and NOT individual picture elements. This allows music to be played through your slideshow while still allowing you to jump from picture (or chapter) to picture.

So, as Aje says, why not just tap into Vegas 4 and make the slideshow (with movies interspersed too if desired). Also, you would have more control over audio. I think that supports part of the reasoning for packaging these products together...

Vote 3 I do my slide shows in vegas 4 while I try not to be boring I find the transisition that is like a page being turned from right lower corner to left is a great one to use especially where the slides end up telling a story. I get more compliments on that transistion than any other you can make it quite dramatic by slowing it down.

In VV4 you can really lift the slideshows to a great level with the opportonity
of putting sound to it that you have in VV4
Choose music that suits the feeling in the pictures (theme) over all - Classic Jazz Tango Pop Rock - whatever.
Then arrange the pictures and the length of each picture and transition exactly to the beat and other changes (dynamics)of the music you choosed and the result can be very good (its very amusing too).
As a matter of fact its even moore fun with scanned film material (D8,S8 films which have no sound by default) but a lot more work of course.

I suppose I'm just greedy. It took just a few minutes to add 150 digital pictures to the last video I sent my parents. I did them as 6 individual slide shows, copying the files from 6 different folders, rotated the wrongly oriented ones and thaht was that. And the results look VERY good.

I spend a lot more time than that whe I'm doing a show in VV.

It doesn't seem to much to ask for (from where I'm sitting, on this side of the Atlantic)
