Transitions: one works, one doesn't

I have one video that I've split into three segments, and I've overlapped the three and added transitions at the two junctions. I added the same transition with the same settings to both overlaps. The first transition works fine, the second doesn't: it doesn't show in the preview OR in the render.

I've made quite a few videos this way with Vegas and have not encountered this problem before. I'm at my wit's end. Does anyone have ANY idea what I can try for this? I've tried saving and reopening the project, removing and re-adding the transition, trying different transition effects, and nothing has helped. The video plays the same with (or without) any transition. But again, the first transition behaves correctly; only the second (theoretically identical) has any issue.

Thanks in advance!

Delete the third segment, cut off 2 seconds from the end of the second segment, re-lengthen the second segment to end of the clip, cut it again, and over-lap it again. Basically, redo that step. It should eventually work.

Thanks for the idea! I tried that a few times, and when that didn't work, I just completely started from scratch...and it /still/ didn't work.

What finally /did/ work was changing the order of the segments. The last frame of the second segment showed the same image as the first frame of the third segment, so the transition didn't show. When I swapped the sequence of the second and third, and made the overlap have a different image on each segment, it worked fine.

Who knew? Lesson learned.
