What is it that you are trying to accomplish or expecting to see? Can you be more specific?
It sounds like you're saying that you split an event and then want to put a transition at the point where you split it. What's the point? ???

I am capturing from DV with another program, which makes 1 file. Afterwards I want to add transitions, so I split the file in Vegas into multiple events. When adding transitions let's say at 05:00;00 (between event 1 and 2), event 2 takes a few frames (4 in my case) from event 1, event 1 takes 4 frames from event 2, so the overlapping region is identical in both events, and nothing visible occurs.

Split the event, trim either side of the split as nec by dragging the end of the event, then drag the clip on the right over the one on the left - not just the end of the clip, but move the clip itself.

Exactly! If video 1 = video 2 in the transition, YOU WILL SEE NO DIFFERENCE because the same video is fading into itself!
