Transparent scipt icon background

I remember I was doing it somehow but since my system's reinstall
somehow I just can't do it, I can't set transparency forr PNG
in Windows Paint. Or should I use a third party image editor ???
I would like to ask for a working method ...

I have never used Paint so I don’t know if it’s capable of PNG transparency. I use Paint Shop Pro 8 to make my PNG's. I use the Export feature with Transparency checked.

OK, I downloaded and tried it with PSP.
I can set traqnsparency now but all my colors are messed up.
What was orange becomes blue and so on...
What am I missing here ?
