transparent text/lettering

Hello
I'm new to Vegas 6.0b but have worked with plenty of other programs. Vegas does seem to be very potent, but not self-evident. I already have a slight problem with my first project. I'm trying to insert a title (superimposed over the movie), which works as designed, but to my dismay I noticed that the actual text is always transparent. The movie or picture in the background always shines through. I would like a solid text that is crisp and clear and does not fade with the background (i.e. white text is not visible if -by chance or design) a white cloud is part of the picture/movie. I used Vegas internal commands to create a text and also photoshop - the result is always the same. Any ideas?
Thanks

You could use text with a solid background, but that will cover up the video completely.

Under the Properties tab in the text generator window try outline or shadow.

Email me your veg file with the Vegas-Created text, and I will check your settings.

Excellent - sorry that I have to ask, but what is your e-mail address?

Your slider on the left (the track slider): is it fully to the right (100%) ?

Did you get your text from the GenMedia tab? The text with transparent background (checkers pattern on back of white text) ?

Re-verify in the text window that you didn't pull the opacity slider down, it's the little slider which is part opaque/part checkers

Like Chienworks suggested: into the text window, click the tabs 'til you get to the page where you can add an outline or shadow to your text: that'll make it "cut" with same color objects that may pass behind the text (your clouds)(unless you choose the same color you're using for letters for your shadow)

To send an e-mail to GK: click on his name here in the posts, it will lead you to his info page; click on his name again and you'll get a page on which you can send him a mail.

Gary listed his email address right at the end of his post. Look for "AT" and "DOT".

Follow up: The problem was the Composite Mode setting on the text track (was on Add).
