transperancy format?

Is there a format I can render as which can work with transperancy. I am doing a loop which I want over the background. The problem is that top layer has a lot of black in it so once I render it and it has the black background I can't do a chromakey. Any Ideas as to what I can do?

Can you clarify what you are trying to do?

This is possible and easy
You will have to render your loop that contains the alpha (transparent)channel to uncompressed AVI.
Choose render as, then choose the uncompressed template, in the custom menu, video tab, make sure render alpha channel is checked.
Once it's rendered, bring it back to the timeline, the background will appear to be black, fear not, right click the clip and choose properties. Go to the media tab and choose "straight" under the Alpha Channel menu.
