Travelling Matt question

PhilNZ wrote on 11/18/2003, 3:25 PM
Hi,

I'm using a jpeg still image of a page of text with space for placing a video sequence that plays in the corner. (Like Winnie the Poo films!)

I'm zooming into the page with 'Event/Pan and Crop' but I need to adjust the video so that it looks like its embedded within the sheet and matches the resize. In the old days I think they called it a 'Travelling Matt'.

Has anyone any ideas how to go about it?

Cheers

Phil

I'm a little unclear on what you are trying to do, but the answer is probably to use pan/crop and/or track motion keyframes to animate the movement or change in size.

If you are trying to do a page peel or something while the video is playing on the page, you will want to render the composite of the still and video as discreet clip first.

How about creating your initial, full sized page with the image in place and "render to new track" a clip over the time allotted for the effect. Then pan/crop the rendered clip as a single event.

Sorry for the confusion,

What I'm after is probably called picture in picture, which JL described.

Although, I want the picture that is within the picture to be a moving video image that when I zoom in with pan/crop both pictures re-adjusts and do not distort or change shape.

What I'm trying to acheive is a short film shown on the page of a book, that slowly zooms in and then page rolls to the next clip. So when I zoom into the page the image maintains its charcteristics as if it where just a photograph.

I hope this is a little clearer, and thanks for replying
