Tried USB2.0 SVGA adapter for 2nd display?

Anyone tried a USB2.0 SVGA adapter with Vegas 6 to add a 2nd display? It seems to be a fairly cost-effective way of extending the dekstop to two displays, thereby allowing a full-screen full-quality LCD preview of edits and captures.

If you don't know the device, check it here: http://www.usbgear.com/computer_cable_details.cfm?sku=USBG-SVGA2&cats=169&catid=125%2C106%2C169

On reason this is attractive to me is that I can have three PCs using the two displays, with single keyboard and mouse (via KVM switch), and this KVM has a switchable USB port.

Any reason this shouldn't work? Feedback, advice and guidance appreciated.

Wow. I never would have dreamed of such a thing. But then, i suppose given enough time some company somewhere will make anything.

I can see this being useful if you have a notebook computer that doesn't include dual display capability. Other than that, it seems kind of overpriced for what it does. If you have a regular desktop PC You can pick up a cheap PCI video card for probably 1/4 the price that will give you a second monitor output with better resolution and bit depth and that will probably have faster response as well.

Remember that USB is a shared resource that relies heavily on CPU power. Plugging that device in will be a big drain on your computer and it may have delayed screen updates if you have lots of other USB activity going on at the same time. That being said, it will probably work in most cases if you have no other options.
