Trim last few frames every clip

Daveco2 wrote on 9/11/2008, 1:25 PM
Is there a way to trim the last 10 frames off every clip in Vegas Pro 8b?

I have about 80 clips from my Canon HV10 and the last several frames of each one shows the first frames from the succeeding clip.
I believe this topic was addressed before, but I can't find it in any of my searches.

Otherwise, does this mean I need Excalibur?

Thanks,

Dave

I think John Meyer has/had a script that would trim a certain number of frames from the beginning. Maybe the script will do the same for the end, also--I just don't remember.

I have done exactly that from Excalibur.

Laurence,

In Excalibur, what steps would you have to take to do the clipping? And what do you think about Excalibur in general? Easy to use? Useful?

Thanks,

Dave

In Excalibur you'll go to the Velocity/Duration tab and use the "Set Duration" tool. In the timecode box, enter the number of frames you want trimmed from every clip, check the "Proportional Change" box, make sure the events you want trimmed are selected, and click on the "Set Duration" button.

There is quite a bit of overlap between Excalibur and Ultimate-S, but then one of them or the other will do something that is absolutely vital for me that the other doesn't do. This is one of those instances. My Sony HVR-Z7 does wonderful looking video, but the last three frames almost always have strange artifacts in them. These artifacts are subtle and easy to miss by accident, only to find them driving you a little nuts later on. Anyway, with Excalibur, I can get rid of the last three frames of all my Z7 clips at once, and as long as I'm using this camera, that is something that helps me out a lot.

I expect that this could be done with a much simpler script though.
