Trimmg Clips

I am having trouble trimming media in the triming window. I have inserted media into the trimming window and take the cursor to my edit point. However, when I go to the edit drop-down list to perform the trim, my 'trim' select is not highlighted and does not work! Does anyone understand this dilema and how I can rectify this situation? Thank you! Robert Tomassetti

Did you press the o key to set the out point? And likewise, i to set the in point?

Like Chien says, use your keyboard, much easier. here's how I do it:
1. click clip in media window to play. If I want to use it, drag it to the trimmer.
2. play in trimmer (press "l" to go fwd, "j" to go back and "k" to stop until I find the in-point and press "i"
3. "j" play until a good out-point, "k" to stop and press "o" to set the out-point
4. "a" adds it to the timeline, where you have the cursor set on the timeline. If you have more video in the clip, right arrow once to get out of the loop (in the trimmer) and repeat steps 2-4 until you are done with that clip in the trimmer
5. repeat endlessly....the trimmer rules!

Does this apply to VMS HD 10 or 11? When I downloaded the trilal version of 11 the trimmer window actually worked with trim markers, can't get it to work in 10?

OR Does the trimming window have a use in Version 10? The help menu and Guide only covers trimming in the timeline.

Also see here for a preference setting that can hinder use of the trimmer in/out.

That is just for "Loop Selection" I am looking for the In and Out markers I'm sure were in VMS 11? Are they not in 10? I wish I had a real manual I would not be on here asking questions.

The trimmer works in VMS10. If you r problem is different than the OP's, i would suggest starting a new thread.
