Trimming question.

I have my events layed out on my timeline. I want to trim the head of my first clip and have it ripple itself back so that it's starting point is at the exact same time on the timeline, but I don't want the following events to ripple back with it (otherwise they loose sync with the music). I know I can do this sort of thing with two steps (deactivate ripple; trim the head of the event then move the event back so the head is at the time I want). My question is whether I can do this in one step?

I always work with ripple at off and use post ripple (f) when I need it.
To do what you specify I would trim it as you said.

Put other events on another track and chose "affect tracks" option instead of "affect all tracks" OR use ALT + drag your clip to slide the clip position in your event.

Even though your suggestions will work, they don't seem that practical. This is a feature that many other NLE's use, why doesn't Vegas allow it? I'm a little disappointed. Are you sure there isn't any other easy/non disruptive way?
