Tripod for Canon GL2 camcorder

Does anyone have experience with the Gitzo G-1228 tripod legs? How about the Gitzo G-2380 video fluid head? I'm considering them as a combo to take while hiking.

Alternatively, is anyone familiar with the Manfrotto (or Bogen?) 3443 legs? How do they compare with the Gitzo legs above? Would the Gitzo head above work with the Manfrotto legs? If not, is there a comparable Manfrotto video head?

Both these brands are great. I just got the Manfrotto 3221 Wilderness legs. For rugged outdoor work they are very strong and have independantly adjustable legs with stainless spiked feet. I exchanged the original center post for the one with the red leveling ball, #555B which I believe an absolute necessity for working on rocky rough ground as I do. Added the 501 pro fluid head. A super setup and holds cameras up to 14lb.

Only downside for the rough hiking world is they are heavy. If this is a concern may need to go with the carbon fiber version but you give up strenght.

My whole set-up $420 from etronics.com and delivered in 4 days.

I have the Bogen 3221WN-501 combination also. It came with a bag as well and is excellent with it's padded legs etc.
I got it from Central Camera. They were really nice and the shipping was free. Current price from them is $341.95 shipped.
The Best Things is also a very reputable dealer. Their current price is $345 Shipping is around $7.79.

Just to clarify - Note my $420 included $112 extra to replace the pole with the self-leveling ball. Base price for the 2331wn+501+case was $307 before shipping.
