i installed VMS on a new computer and then installed the 8 plat upgrade from a disc i had saved it on but when i tried to install the new blue f/x portion from the disc, McAfee repeatedly blocks it reporting a trojan? anybody else run into this? is it legit? McAfee will not let me install it. how can i get around this? i'm going to be upgrading to 10 soon, will that include all the new blue f/x? i use these pretty heavily.

I think it might be common for an anti virus to not allow some new software. If you are sure your disc came from a clean source, turn off McAfee and then install. If you are not sure maybe you can scan the disc. Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 Production Suite has NewBlue.

Any product downloaded directly from NewBlueFX or Sony will not have any viruses. If you download them from some bootleg site, no guarantees can be made.

In this particular case, it sounds like McAfee is reporting a false positive. The installer on the disc shipping from Sony will NOT have a virus or trojan. Please see this KB entry:

NewBlue has recently switched to a new installer so this will hopefully no longer be an issue on future releases.
