Trouble capturing my video.

I have a camera with AC outputs so I have it hooked up to an adapter so I can put it on my computer. When I try to capture it from Vegas it says "The device could not be opened. Make sure it is turn on or is not being used by another program." I tried to use the Internal Capturing Device aswell but it just doesn't detect. I tried it on Windows Media Player and it is capturing just fine. Can someone help?

Be sure you're using the External capture device. Be sure the cam is in VTR mode, not camera mode. Connect cable to computer first, then to cam, then turn on cam. Does Windows see it when you do this?
Most capture issues in Vegas boil down to a very few things;
OHCI card
Capture cable
Cam in Camera and not VTR mode
internal vs external capture app (you want external for DV)
Firewire card sharing drivers
