Hi it’s that newbie again.
My project includes eight still pictures in the midst of a lot of movie shots. I don’t want to do anything fancy with them, no panning or zooming, just put them up, add a commentary and move on.
My general technique with other editing packages is to create chapters as individual mini-projects and stitch them together later. That way I don’t get the big crash and rendering problems can be sorted more simply.
HOWEVER Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum does not want to play ball at all with the stills!
Initially I tried putting jpeg images straight onto the timeline before adding any commentary. At the 3rd or 4th image the software simply crashed with a polite message saying it had to shut down and Windows XP saying it had seen the problem, “Did I want to report the error?”
It did it several times, so I sought help from the forum pages. There seems to be an ongoing problem. Someone suggested converting the jpegs to PNG. This I did and there seems to be little difference. Put three images on the timeline, nothing happens. Do anything at all with another, including highlighting the image in the project media tab, and down she goes: no messages: nothing.
I’ve tried adding some commentary to see if that stabilises things: it doesn’t. I’ve tried rebooting, I’ve tried closing what little else there is running, to increase memory available, no change.
Do I have to conclude that the software cannot handle still images or is there a workaround I have missed?
