trouble recording

i just reacently started recording with vegas 2.0. everythings working fine except for one big problem, after i finish one track, and start recording a second, it picks up sound from my first track, ive made sure that track one is out of record mode but neither I nor my roomate could figure it out, does any one have an idea whats goin on?

Try muting your previouly recorded track/s while recording your new track.

What soundcard are you using?? Need more info, but I'd say there's a "record what you hear" preference for the card.

Disable the loopback you have in the soundcard's Windows mixer applet.

Might be a tick box saying "record what you hear", or something like that.

i have a dell with windows xp and a soundblaster live sound card if that helps...

As others have eluded to it's a soundcard recording mixer issue.


Double-click the speaker icon in your systray > Options > Properties > Recording > OK, You are now in the RECORDING mixer.

Select the INPUT, probably Line In, not What U Hear, Mixed, Stereo or similar.
