Trouble with CD burned using CD Arch 5

Hey all,
I recently received a CD that was burned using CD Arch 5. When I tried to do a copy of that disc, I was unable to. A couple songs into the CD, and my system locked up. Using Nero to copy. I typically don't have troubles copying CD-R's, but for some reason this is causing probs.

Thanks.
Warren

Does the CD play on a CD player? How about on the computer your using to copy, does it play normaly there?

Yes, the CD plays on various players and the CD-ROM drives on the system

The media is Mitsui silver / 80min and the disc was recorded at 1x speed. Sorry should've included that info in my post (basic stuff). I'm thinking there may have been some errors in the track(s) - but then again, it wouldn't then play. Bizzare fluke? I can say nothing like this has happened before.

Then I suggest burning at 4x or 8x ..The old 1x 'quality' maxim is (my opinion here) a myth , especially with newer drives and media.

The newer media is so much more sensitive, that the drives are unable to throttle back the laser power sufficiently. Many new drives do not even offer write speeds lower than 4x . Also a disc spinning faster should be more stable in all ways, unless labelled.
