trouble with custom settings

Hi, when I install vegas and first time use custom settings for encode, it works. But when I try to make an customized setting I can't because the custom button doesn't work. Why this happen? is there a solution to that?
That happens with vegas 4 and now 5.

It may be that your MPEG encoder isn't registered correctly.
Do you know how to manage your registry? If so,

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESonyMC MPEG Plug-In1.0License]
"CurrentKey"="XX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX"
"InstFlags"=dword:00000010

you'll see numbers or letters, not the "X's"

thanks for your help, but that doesn't work.
nothing happens when I push the custom button.
Is there a way to unregister the mpeg encoder to register again (at least I could make a lot of different settings for late use)
