Troxel's Tsunami Vegas Script a Lifesaver - highly recommend

Just a quick recommendation here for Ed Troxel's terrific 'Tsunami' script ... I've been using it for several months now...it's been critical to success, for helping me organize my animations..

Example: if you use Digital Juice jumpbacks .. this script's "Video Wall" tool is a terrific way to keep jumpbacks video-thumbnailed & organized for video production workflow.

I've bought almost all the JB's now ... hundreds of top notch animations.. I get motivated just watching them ... :P

To assist in workflow, I've authored a reference DVD for my own use that has both sequential 5-second shots of each jumpback, as well as video walls, 5 x 4 (2 video walls per JB volume) .. that run for about 15 seconds each..

I then have all of these on DVD so that I can click on the JB volume I want to preview and instantly see 20 animations at a glance... terrific way to have an overview of what's available, and for planning production workflow.

It's great to be able to watch them on TV in video wall format, as well as on the pc..so I can see what my customers will be seeing, and plan my lower thirds and shot lists accordingly.

so, that's just an idea .. also in Vegas I have a subtitle that tells me which animations I'm looking at (eg JB22 animations 885-891 or whatever)..

just a tip, and a "thanks" to Ed for authoring a tool that's become essential to my workflow ..

I would agree - I use Tsunami all of the time. It's a 'must buy'!

Thanks, Ken. Always good to hear how other people use the scripts and that others find them as useful as I do.

Ken, "It's great to be able to watch them on TV in video wall format" this is sometimes how I use to review and get a "feel" for a bunch of clips - It really impresses the client and often gives me an understanding of my shooting for the "Colour Way" of the video. Tip: Create a Video wall > MAke a snapshot of it > save and print file. You've now gotta a simple "hard copy" reference tool!

. .and yes, the helping Tools in Tsunami - messy MESSY editor here! - have got me out of many a scrape . .. oh yes!

Edward, thanks again for a creative and straightforward toolbox.

Hey Grazie, thanks! That wins my "Bright Video Idea of the Week Award!" ... hadn't thought of that... I'll just do the screencaps out of vegas preview (or probably get even higher-quality images and thumbnail w/compupic) and then print them on photo-quality paper, have them bound in a wirecoil binder at kinkos and bang! there's a terrific background preview book..

appreciate it much .. I was going to do a similar thing w/ultra v-sets, hadn't thought about it for DJ jumpbacks .. great idea!

Ken,

How do you like the master sets for Ultra? I looked for a classroom set but didnt see one listed.

The cool thing I have been doing with Ultra is using some old beach vacation footage I have and keying my kids in the shot (funny my daughter wasnt even born then) but its as if they were actually in the shot.

Another thing about Ultra I like is the clean keys you get even with the hair. Amazing!
