Do you mean by looking at the original disc? Ha! Not in the slightest is this possible. Ripping/copying is absolutely identical to playing, as far as the original disc is concerned. I wouldn't waste a single brain cell worrying about it.

However, looking at the resulting ripped files is another matter. There are easy ways to compare files that will show that it was ripped/copied from a specific album. For that matter, most ripping software copies the original CD's information and ID along with the music, and most of them also look up CDDB information and add that as well. True, there may not be any way to say that this particular song was copied from Jane's CD and not from Harry's, but it would be possible to determine it was rippled from the (for example) July 2001 pressing of a particular album.

I was told there is a company that can detect attempted copying of the audio cd by doing some analyzation.
