Turning off scrolling durning playback

Is there a way to turn off the scrolling of the timeline when watching the playback?

I don't know of a direct keypress to accomplish this, though \ will start it up again if it's stopped.

I can think of a couple ways to accomplish this though. 1) scroll with the horizontal slider a bit until the cursor is out of view. 2) zoom all the way out.
