Both of Spot's suggestions are excellent. In addition, take your Vegas disc to Kinko or an equivalent shop and have the help file printed and bound. It's about 325 pages long, and worth very penny it costs to print it.

I have both, and I must say that I like the VASST the best. Sony's is ok, but VASST goes much deeper into things. The quality of the screen shots from the program is also better, more clear.
And another good thing is, that VASST-people like Spot, who does a lot of the instructions on the DVD's, hangs out here too and is a great value to this community.

Just my oppinion of course. ;-)

...the Sony Digital Video and Audio Production book is a nice way to get the basic fundamentals...good starting point...
