Tutorial Worthless - where is manual?

I am trying to learn how to crop out bad frames. This is all I want to do with this home movie I have copied to hard drive and then imported to Movie Studio 9.

The tutorial is worthless because it requires me to do an audio clip. I am deaf and therefore unable to do this. But it won't let me continue to the next part because I have to do the audio part first.

The "Show Me How...." is worthless for the same reason.

Can someone here please provide step by step instructions for cropping out bad frames?

Help! Please! Thank you.

It's not clear what you mean by "crop out bad frames," kahill.

Cropping means cutting off the sides of a video. Is this really want you want to do?

Perhaps you mean trimming instead -- in which you cut video from the beginning or the end of a clip.

Or splitting -- in which you slice through a video in order to remove footage from the middle of a clip on your timeline.

None of us created the tutorial you're referring to, so there's no point in ranting about it. But if you'll tell us precisely what you're trying to do, there's likely an easy way to do it.

Here are two options to get rid of bad frames, depending on the details.

One way: if the bad frames are at the beginning or end of a clip that is already on the timeline, simply grab the far-left or far-right edge of the clip with your mouse, and move it in a little bit to remove frames. (Note, grab the middle of the edge, NOT the top-corner of the edge, which does something else)

Another way: if the bad frames are in the middle of your clip, put the cursor where the bad frames start and press the "S" key (for "S"plit). This will cut your clip into two pieces. Cut the clip again at the end of the bad frames, then delete the segment with just the bad frames. Move the two remaining segments together (drag-n-drop). You cannot "join" the two segments even when they are up against each other, but you can form a "group", to keep them together.

For the manual, you download the Vegas Pro 10 manual. Vegas Pro is 95% the same as Platinum, it only has few things differently. So you use its manual instead, available as a download on this site.

Abenlenky down below has the answer as it is in various places throughout the entire home movie. I am trying to trim (crop, clip??) bad frames out of the movie and then putting the good frames together. I will follow Abenlensky's recommendations first before downloading the manual.

Many thanks.

PS I do believe I have a right to be upset about the audio clip in the tutorial. Sony should not force anything like this on us; instead it should give us an option to exercise this or not. Otherwise it may be construed as discrimination against the hearing impaired.

Still don't know why you're yelling at us about the tutorial, Kahill.

Why not tell Sony? We're just civilians here, trying to help people.

You are complaining to the wrong people, and none of us has discriminated against you. If you'll poke around a bit, you'll find your fellow users are eager to help out, and some of us have differences in abilities, too. But none of your peers have the power to change the software, wish as we might.

I suggest you read the forum introduction:
"The Sony Creative Software discussion forum is a peer support area where you can share tips and advice with other Sony Creative Software product users."

There are links for Customer Service and / or Technical Support at the top of this page. All the best.

You are right, and I apologize for being upset. I will most certainly let Sony know this.
