Tutorials for a newbie

I'm pretty new to digital video editing, and completely new to Vegas, but just recently took the plunge with a new camcorder and VMS 8. The show me how tutorials in the program are great, but I'm looking to track down as much "how to" info as possible. But, not much out for version 8 yet, though there is a ton for version 6, and quite a bit for version 5 (http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ContentDisplayView?cmsId=content/SilverBullets/DI/index_handycam&hideHeaderFooter=false&storeId=10151&catalogId=10551&XID=O:hdnahandycam:Variety_132#/handycam/learn?id=shoot for example).

So, my question is, how much difference is there from versions 5 and 6 to version 8? For a complete beginner like me looking for the basics, would tutorials for versions 5 and 6 provide useful information for using version 8, or are the differences too significant?

thanks!

For a beginner, there is a lot to be learnt in Vegas 5, 6 or 8! I think Sony's own video tutorials will take you a long way in becoming an experienced editor. Check them out here !

No, the differences aren't too great.

Click on the Search link above and type "tutorial" there are many threads with links to good tutorials.

VTC do online tutorials. Vegas 7 is there atm, with an update for 8 due before too long ( I know you are on VMS, but many of the principles still apply)
