tv preview with a matrox G550

my buddy just asked me this question.
he has a G450, if he gets a matrox tv adapter http://www.matrox.com/mga/products/upgrades/g550_upgrade_bundle.cfm
would he be able to have video preview on tv? or the adapter is just for dvd playback?
he cant afford another monitor, just want to use the tv as second monitor.

let me think of something here. i do have a G550 running 2 15" lcd display, if i add another pci video card with tv out, do u think i can have 2 screen plus a video preview my tv? would it be the same using my 1394 ohci? coz the canopus advc 100 is not within my budget now, but i do want to do color adjustment on the tv, possible?

Then you want to connect from the computer to the tv via firewire (using external preview). The TV out would be usable but not provide the same granuality of detail. Also, make sure the preview window is set to Best and maximize.
