TV vs. Computer button selection

I'm authoring a DVD that will likely be viewed on both TV and computer screens.

I have several mpeg videos that have chapter markers in them and each chapter position is diplayed on the menu. I used Insert Scene Selection Menu and set it to play the rest of the video from the selected point (chapter).

When I mouse-click on the button for the video on the main menu, the submenu opens and diplays the chapters. Keyboard 'Enter' yields the same result.

However, if I hit the enter button on the DVD Arch remote (preview mode) while the button is highlighted, the entire video begins to play (the submenu that displays the chapters does not even open).

Is this a normal function for the DVD Arch remote? or is something programmed incorrectly? I couldn't find any options for programming the Enter button on the Remote tab.

I'm using DVD Arch 3.0c in WinXP Pro.

Thanks for the help...

Sounds like you have 2 different buttons involved. When you first drag your mpeg file onto the menu, that will create a button that simply plays the video. Then when you insert a scene selection menu, you'll get a second button that talkes you to the scene selection.

In one case you're invoking the scene selection button and in the other case you are invoking the play video button.

Thanks, Scott.
I completely understand what you're saying. I'm pretty sure I had set the Scene Selection Menu button order to the front (on top of the video button). Will it work that way or do I need to somehow make DVD Arch only focus on the SSM button...?

As I recall, overlapping buttons like this can result in non-deterministic behaviour.

If you only want the scene selection behavior, then you should remove the other button.

Start over and Instead of dragging the movie from the explorer window onto the menu, drag the movie onto the project view panel and drop it at the root of the DVD. Right click on the movie and select insert scene selection menu; you'll get a new folder for the scene selection created in the project view, drag this new folder onto the menu icon in the project tree and you'll get the scene selection button and only the scene selection button on the menu.

I figured out where my problem was...

It was a combination of Button Action programming, button order, button linking and End Action programming. Once I sat down and went through each button and carefully went through each step of programming each action, it works just the way I want it to.

I tought that early on I had tried removing the original media button as you suggested, but I think the media clip itself was actually deleted when I did that. Don't remember for sure though so I'll have to follow your instructions to find out. Originally, I had right clicked on the work surface and inserted the media from there. Then, I rt clicked on the media button for Scene Selection menu.

Its working right now so I'll probably just leave it alone.

Thanks Scott for the help.
