TWAIN_32.dll corrupt & Error 1068 WIA

I cannot use Sony Studio Vegas HD 10 recently. Everything was fine a while ago and suddenly it stopped working. It is all about Twain_32.dll which is for scanners file. Why Vegas need scanner file? I searched internet everywhere how to solve this problem, followed all advice everywhere I could, reinstalled Studio vegas, uninstalled Canon Scanner drivers, installed again, downloaded twain_32.dll files, placed them in windows32 system (I use Vista 32), again restarted, but nothing works.
DVD Architect works fine, only editor is dead. I tried do start Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), but all I get is error 1068 dependency service or group failed to start.
I have no idea what to do. searching through internet I found this problem have been going since 2007!!! Cannot really Sony team do anything to fix it?
Why do you need scanner file?

Have someone any solution?

Vegas can import images by scanning them - that's why it looks at the Twain driver. If the Twain driver is not working with Vegas, you need to remove that Twain driver and Vegas should start working again. I'm guessing when Vegas "suddenly stopped working" (things don't normally "suddenly stop working" without SOMETHING happening) is about the time you installed the scanner software. Apparently the version of the driver is not compatible with Vegas...

I installed Studio on my laptop 64bit with Windows 7 with the same Canon MP6130 driver installed on it (need for Wi-Fi printing). I have no problem to run Vegas on it at all. I deleted Canon printer AIO driver and also another stand alone Canon scanner on my desktop PC which runs Vista bit32. Then I reinstalled Vegas. No way! It didn`t help ;( I reinstalled the newest drivers for my AIO printer and Canon 5400F scanner, reinstalled Vegas but no way! again it didn`t help. I copied and put twain_32.dll to windows/system32 also windows and twain32 folders. Wherever possible, but it still didn`t work.
I cleaned registry, no way! It didn`t help. I F***K tried everything possible, whatever I found on search engine regarding this problem, but nothing worked for me. Most of people solved this by going to Services/WIA and click START. In my case it doesn`t want to start, which may be also the reason. It shows me Error 1068. Again, I searche to solve WIA error 1068 too, but nothing worked either.
I scanned PC for errors etc. NOTHING!!!
Common Sony! Do Something! Patch, Updates, whatever !

Is there any other solution? I`m not going to reinstalling window because of stupid software which need scanner for nothing.
It worked a few weeks ago, because I have 3 projects on the way, which I cannot finish. laptop is not so powerful for editing as my desktop.

Remove driver? Remove from where?

Friend, I hoped I would find the answer when seeing your problem report. I am just as frustrated as you... Tried all the hints found on the Internet, nothing helps. Currently, I can only use my Win 7 computer in failsafe mode, it don´t start normally. I really would like a safe step-by-step instruction to repair the Twain_32.dll problem! Anyone?

A number of people are finding that, since updating to a 64-bit version of Windows, their old 32-bit devices aren't properly supported.

It's not a Sony issue as much as it's a Canon or whoever made your scanner issue.

It's possible the scanner manufacturer has a 64-bit driver on their web site.

Otherwise, with other people facing similar issues with printers and disc burners -- as well as buggy behavior with 32-bit programs -- we can hope Windows 7 SP1 will fix it.

In 2004 there were problems with Canon drivers installing a very old TWAIN_32.dll. Could that issue have surfaced once again?

I know ths thread is stale but I just encountered the same error about twain_32.dll. I found a solution for me so I'm posting here for the benefit of others like me searching the forum on this problem.

In my case I was able to resolve this by going into the Windows services manager and re-enabling the Windows Image Aquisition service (WIA).

WIA is Micorosft's generic interface to using a scanner which I don't use since I have much more advanced scanning software on my PC. I had purposely disabled it since the last time I used Vegas Movie Studio. Once I re-enabled it Vegas worked fine.

IMHO It is bogus that Vegas will not start without it since I'd bet the majority of users never scan input. If I were coding the sofware I would have written the check to only occur at a point when the scan functionality is invoked, not at program startup.

Oh well, another day of troubleshooting time I'll never get back.

Hi,
ip_in_denver,
What do you mean, " re-enabling the Windows Image Aquisition service (WIA)"

I have gone into services (Windows 7) located "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" which is set to "Automatic" start up, I can't do any thing to it, Start, stop nothing.

Is there something else I should do first?
