TWAIN_32 Error

YellowSmileY wrote on 11/27/2001, 3:47 PM
I just installed Vegas 3.0 and everytime I start it up, it gives me
the error:
An Error Occurred Starting Vegas Video.
The Twain manager could not be initialized.
TWAIN_32.dll missing or corrupt.

I already downloaded the dll file and placed it in the vegas,
windows and system directories and it's still giving me the error.

can anyone help me?

Yeah - I wish I could get a definitive solution to this - I have also placed this file in all the exact same places and still get it - I have with VV3 and VF2. I can live with it 'Cuz I love VV3 but if I can get rid of it I will! :)

Hi guys,

What version of Windows are each of you currently using? Are you using the copy of TWAIN_32.DLL from the installation CD for your copy of Windows, or did you download it from a random site on the internet?

Please let me know and we can work from there.

I have tried several variations of TWAIN_32.DLL from M$, a multitude of media vendors and off the web. None of them seem to be recognized. Is there a TWAIN installer somewhere that perhaps needs to add registry references?

P.S. Kudos to you on VV3 - This app has fast become my favorite video app in my arsenal. great job. Look forward to 3D plug-ins - send my regards to the developers.

try registering the dll with the os.

regsvr32 Twain32.dll

Search for regserv32.exe it should be in the windows or windows/system dir

It brings up a Dialog box that reads:

LoadLibrary("TWAIN_32.DLL") failed.
GetLastError returns 0x0000001f.

A wonderful message just like the blue one's M$ gives :)

I'm assuming it doesn't have the proper libraries to perform this function (within the .DLL file itself).

I had that same problem until I installed "imaging" component form windows 98SE CD. That will add TWAIN support to the system.

Besides the annoying message when you open Vegas, is the TWAIN stuff really necessary for Vegas 3.0 to work? Doesn't that have to do with scanners and such? I just click "OK" and move on. (Also, I just use Vegas 3.0 for audio.) Seriously - how important is it? Thanks.

It's a great way to import photos into a project without jumping between Photoshop and VV. If your scanner is good enough to grab a high quality scan without the need for touching up, it's wonderful.

I used it on a 1 hour project with about 80 stills from photos and it saved me a lot of time. Had I known exactly the stills beforehand I might have done them all at once in Photoshop. However I was hunting through album after album ad-hoc while editing, so doing the actual scanning from within VV saved a lot of alt-tabbing.
