I've been asked to render a 2 hour project to Mp4. Having had issues in the past with variants of mp4 and different players, what is the conventional wisdom that will offer the best render solution in Vegas. I have no idea where this file will be played, so I'm looking for a widely accepted render. Thanks!
probably then use the default presets according to your resolution and framerate in the MAGIX AVC area and dont tweak anything else, you should be good to go then.

Conventional wisdom would be to first ask the client what the delivery format requirements are.

I can understand that if it are no producers it is difficult to tell you, but if you don't play it yourself somewhere where will it be played, is that modern TV, smartphone old or new, DVD or BR players and so on.
@Butch Moore then render a short in h.264 and test that in all the players you have, deliver it back to them. If they like it, you have success, render the full project and deliver, if not maybe then you can ask what they are playing it in and make adjustments from there. So, MAGIX Avc, Legacy Mainconcept AVC, Sony AVC, they should all play on most everything.
