Two new Stonefield Videos

Stonefield wrote on 5/24/2005, 8:52 PM
A few of my Vegas friends have been posting some great videos here lately so I thought I'd share a couple of my recent projects. I know I may get some heat about my remixes of the songs. But as you all know, I like to shake things up a bit. These were both done for the models and for FUN.....and no-money-was-made-from-them.

They've got some new lighting I've been trying and a couple of filter effects I've been experimenting with. Having grown tired of the long renders of Movie Looks, I think I found some cool combinations that produce just as pleasing effects. I'll be sharing those FX setting in a Veg. file soon.

I previewed one of the videos to my Vegas Friends and warned them of the overt sexuality of the content. They ALL wrote back saying that I must be getting too worried as they thought it wasn't over the top at all. Guess I'll have to turn up the heat in the next couple of projects. Heh.

Anyways...like em or not, here's a couple of little videos I've done recently using Acid for the remixes and Vegas for the editing. The girls and I had a blast making these and we hope you enjoy watching them. I tell all the girls now about the forum members and they love the input.

Any and all thoughts, raves, rants, comments will be read and of course, questions and effects chains will be shared.

............oh almost forgot.........( for those that don't know me )

DISCLAIMER...

THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS CONTAIN SCENES AND IMAGES OF A PROVOCATIVE AND MATURE SUBJECT MATTER. IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY FEMALE MODELS DANCING AND MOVING IN AN OVERTLY SENSUAL MANNER, YOU MAY BE OFFENDED. VIEWER DISCRESCION IS ADVISED. IF THIS TYPE OF CONTENT OFFENDS YOU IN ANY WAY....YOU HAVE THE OPTION OF NOT WATCHING. CONTAINS NO NUDITY.

Thanks again Sony for two programs that allow me to be an artist. You guys rock.

The Natalie video is about 50 megs. I coulda made it smaller, but it's rather hard to contain all that hotness in a small file.

Bravo! Very nicely done. Just the slightest notch below what I would expect to see on MTV (and I'm only responding to the format here--mini-dv?--because the editing is excellent).

Details, details? Camera? Lighting setup? Effects?

Stan,

Like always - Incredible footage, lighting (always a master with creative lighting), mixing and editing.

Did you re-edit this since the preview?

Thanks again for sharing this with us.

Love the lighting in "Natalie" Stan. The editing was top notch as well. The bed used looked a little cheap and detracted slightly from the quality. Perhaps a different cover (satin?). You captured everything about the girl's face and figure. Audio was fantastic. Great video.

"Sophia" was edited equally well, but the lighting was way too bright IMO and washed out her face too much. She probably looks a lot more attractive in person than in the video.

I only watched the Natalie piece and all I can say is that I'm appalled that young women are being used in such... kidding...

Great job, the pacing is right on for this sort of gig. I love your use of creative color correction and mix of high/low contrast shots.

Please do post some of your FX chains when you get a sec. I'd love to try them on some projects I have coming up.

I will save this video to my "samples" folder for those times I need some creative inspiration.

Ha Ha... that doesn't sound right.

Thanks guys...the response seems to be good so far....

To answer a couple questions and comments....

Yes, the format was Mini DV. The Canon Elura. Most of the lighting in both was a strong 2k (?) focusable spotlight. Placed right below the camera dead center. I then place a RedHead ( 1000watts ) directly above the lens about the equal distance above the camera. The models literally could not see me so a lot of my direction was vocal. As for Post and Fx, I'll get into that a bit later.

I did not re edit this footage. The full length Natalie and Sofia movies are both the original files. There was a smaller Natalie preview but that was just a tiny thing I emailed out.

I have to agree about the bed as not being too interesting and kinda....clumsy. I wanted to try something new and I don't think it succeeded too well. But after putting a bed in there once, I know what I'll do next time. Always learning.....

I also agree about Sofia's lighting was a bit TOO blasted out. I'm trying to overexpose more in camera so I don't have to do any color curves in post. I want to keep doing more of my fx on the set and less in post to keep the quality of the digital video cleaner. But I seem to be having a small discrepency between my camera's viewfinder and my captured image. My tv monitor is pretty much toast so I have no real basis or calibrated starting point. That's something I'll have to look into .

Thanks for the response guys. I'm hoping to do some more location shooting this summer. Be nice to get these girls down at the beach or better yet, a private pool. Maybe throw a couple of hot rod or classic cars in there. Who knows... lot's of ideas out there.

Any other thoughts ????

Stan,

Take this for what it's worth since I'm no professional, but although I liked these two videos they seemed to be missed something ***compared to your previous videos.*** The models are beautiful (always), the shots are beautiful (always), and the editing is slick, but they seem to lack a little something, which I can only label as soul. It's almost as if you were overconcerned with the new technical aspects you were attempting. I think the video you set to "Kiss" is my all time favorite, and my favorite single-model video is the one you did with the asian model (with some beach shots). Both of these (to me) have that nebulous quality of "soul." I can't say why these new vids don't do as much for me, maybe it's the music. Who knows.

Again, these are great videos, and my only negative remark is in comparison to your previous work. Maybe others can amplify (or negate) these remarks.

Thanks for posting them. I love to see examples of great filming & editing.

"Any other thoughts ????"

Yes Stan, I "thought" my wife was going to kill me when she walked up and saw me watching the video!

Just kidding. Good stuff as always.

Brian,

I totally agree with you as well. These two aren't as deep as some of the other works I've done in the past. These are more fun types as opposed to what I've done before. Don't get me wrong, I love these videos as well, but they do lack some of the personality that's been seen before.

A lot of that has to do with the fact that both models are "first timers for video" and they were a bit nervous and uncertain. When I work with these girls again, I'm sure they'll feel more comfy and it should show in their faces.

Model videos are a pretty new thing and lot's of these girls are doing this just in the faith I'll make them look their best.

As far as wives/girlfriends are concerned, you might want to try the old, " But I swear, this is RESEARCH." ....But I've yet to know of that working. Sorry.....heh

Well done! I'm new to these forums and now I need to do a search on your profile ID and see what else you've done. So what about the fingernails for "Natalie"? Was that just lighting that flared on a well-chosen color or did you add to that?
Stonefield wrote on 5/27/2005, 12:52 AM
What fingernails are you talking about ? Can you give me the time count to what you're refering too ?
