Two Qs - Title Effects AND MOV file inputs

Two unrelated questions:

1. Title effects. I can get a title fade on a black screen, but CANNOT find a way to do it on a TRANSPARENT screen. I want to overlay a title on a photo imported into the timeline. It appears I can do a scrolling title, but not a fixed one that fades?! Am I missing something stupid here?

2. I have .MOV files that came off a still camera that records in MPEG mode @ 15fps. ULead's Video Studio correctly encodes these as frame-based (which they are) to DVD MPEG-II format. I have been unable to find a setting on VEGAS' MPEG compressor that corresponds to "field based" output, and as a consequence motion looks TERRIBLE. Is there a fix for this or is VV too tied to the DV format for this to be a good program to use to include/edit these clips for production to DVDs (or any other MPEG format for that matter)?

For #1 just use the default text in the media generators, that is text on a transparent background. Just add a fade at the beginning and the end like you normally would with a video clip.

Duh - that was simple :) Figured it would be and I was missing something obvious..... (which I was!)

Now if I can nail the other issue, I'm in good shape....

Go to the advanced CODEC settings and set "use frame-based motion".

That stops the jerkiness for non-field-based input files (e.g. .MOVs operating in a frame-based mode.)

I assume this would also apply to animated input files (e.g. computer rendered animation, etc) which does not have a DV-style field order.
