two strange video bugs suddenly

I have used vegas 4 for since it came out and vegas 5 now also for several months since it came out. Never have I seen or noticed these two bugs till now.

On a clip/event, drag a VIDEO FX say color corrector and the screen I view it on (a firewire connected SONY monitor) goes 5 shades darker. I am stuck with trying to see if I have to raise the brightness. it is VERY noticable.

The second is transitions. My transitions (simple crossfade) starts out slightly dark then the picture goes to normal brightness. In other words a noticable dip and bright. I never saw these before and I have over 100+ weddings that don't do this. whats going on ?

One other bug I started noticing is when I drag a Video FX to an event, it sometimes applys itself to the whole timeline and makes a keyframe line between the video and audio track. What is going on ? Vegas self destruct ?

Any help appreciated.

I know this is an old topic, but I wanted to post a reply in case someone else comes across this issue. I was having the same problem with my crossfades going dark in the middle of the fade and wasn't finding any way to fix it. It wasn't showing up in all of my videos, so I knew it had to be something I was changing in only certain projects. It turns out I was adding a 2D Shadow in the Track Motion section of the top video track. I added the shadow to help some of my 3D text with a transparent background stand out from my animated background on the second video track. It never occurred to me that the shadow was showing up on every transition. I removed the 2D shadow and my crossfades went back to normal.
