txt generator background is black and default should be transparent

Brad-Marshall wrote on 9/13/2022, 7:59 PM

Hi, I just bought VegasPro 20 via download.
Using windows 10 on an HP Gaming Laptop 15-ec0xxx
AMD Ryzen 7 3750H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx     2.30 GHz
64 Bit
When I grab a txt box and drop it onto video timeline with video.
It has a black background (blocks-out video), and the default setting is transparent, meaning you should just see the
the video with text over-layed.
I can change colour of background but can't get rid of it.

Please don't confuse this with transparent text.

Help! ..
Thx Brad

I know that when I right click on a video track and select insert text media, it creates a transparent text object.

Are you editing 360 view footage? I think you have to move the text fx before pan/crop for it to composite correctly. Also, applying the 360 adjust fx will mess up the compositing too.

Are you putting the text on its own track above the video?

@Brad-Marshall - What's a Text Box?

@Brad-Marshall - I'm still asking . . ?

@Brad-Marshall - Have you looked at the setting? Is it looking like this:?

@Brad-Marshall - Have you got ANY colour as a Background?

Thanks ... checked media event and it set to 'none'

@Brad-Marshall - Your ALPHA Channel needs to be set to something other than "None", if that's what you mean by NONE? No ALPHA Channel set, no transparency - period!

This is mine:

Now, the question I'm asking is why WOULD a Default Text Media Generated Event have a no ALPHA CHannel "set"?

If a title is blacking out a video, odds are it is being placed on the same track as the video. Instead, it must be placed on a track above the video.

@jetdv - And yes, that's ANOTHER option!
