It could be done, but why do so? Sony would lose 2 additional programs that can stand alone to be sold, and the UI will be VERY difficult to learn because it would be very confusing. More over, the RAM/CPU needs would skyrocket.

So basically, I prefer it the way it is now.

Nope.

There is some limited ability to let Vegas and ACID use Sound Forge as an audio editor, but it still functions by launching Sound Forge separately and passing it a file containing whatever part of the timeline you've selected.
