just downloading it now.

I'll be testing this in great detail tomorrow!

The latest 3.1 update (a 22.9MB download)installed flawlessly over my existing 3.01 version. There is a notable reduction in DSP usage. Probably attributed to the PPI optimizations in 3.1. A project that used to use 92%-95% DSP in 3.01, now uses about 75%-78% DSP with 3.1. That is a nice bonus. Of course, the new 1176SE is also a welcomed add on. I may be crazy, but my previous mixes seem to sound better, warmer, with the latest 3.1 PPI's than with the previous 3.01 versions. Unfortunately, the native CPU munching is still alive and well. I have just gotten into the habit of disabling and then immediately enabling the PPI's from the Performance Meter during playback to get back the native CPU. Once you do this the native CPU use is often negligible. Still, this is the only performance related problem I have that remains and hopefully it will get finally fixed in the next 3.2 update. So even though the CPU munching was not fixed, there are many more pluses to this update and no new negatives(at least not yet), so it seems to be a definite overall improvement. Now I finally can have my Cambridge sans demo mode :)

have you told them its still CPU munching?

Yes, I emailed both Mackie and UA support about this problem.

Is anyone using UAD-1 3.x successfully with Vegas 2.0h?
Not a sucker...just a chicken (wanting to take the plunge).

I think the rest of us are using Vegas 4.0C

Gotta say I'm extremely impressed with the 1176SE - sounds near identical to my ears, but hardly any DSP on the card at all. I really wasn't expeciting that much of it!

even better... if you copy the settings you had on the original 1176LN plugin - the sound, gain reduction and output level seem the same - so you can swap them as you're running out of DSP. Genius.

I'm gonna email them extensively about this CPU munching problem though.

interestingly - Although my CPU seems to mirror the cards load, but slightly higher - until it gets really close to the top, adding or removing native plugins seems to make little or no difference to the CPU usage. really bizarre.

I had problems when I briefly tested the UAD-1 with Vegas 3. You could not get the Classic Wave Drivers (MME) to give you a stable low buffer setting. Using Vegas 4 and
low latency drivers in ASIO mode (which you can't do in previous versions), made all the difference for me. I can get down to 256 samples (5msec) for input monitoring (using the Nigel amp sim PPI) when I want to, and mix @ anywhere from 512 samples to 1024 (23.2msec). I very rarely go any higher than that.
