Uber-subtle pulldown menu toggle indication

Is there anyway to make the faint little frame that appears around 'activated' pulldown menu items a bit more visible? They are horribly subtle to the point where I find it hard to see some of them.

I wish they would have just done a checkmark or something a bit more visible.

Weird thing is, the manual seems to say that it SHOULD be a checkmark!

For a moment there I was really confused (thinking my version was missing something there).... but now I see what you mean.

No, I'm talking about the menu items in the Options pulldown, not the View pulldown.

I WISH they were like the ones in the View pulldown. Those are perfectly clear.

Mine shows no checkmarks, and the difference in shading between enabled and disabled is so slight as to be nearly invisible.

Maybe it's a theme thing. I always run with Windows' themes disabled because having that enabled causes a few display weirdnesses.

Ah.. I see - different menu. Although, it's still quite clear on mine - but then I don't run any of the VISTA fancy GUI crap - my interface looks just like W2K - much cleaner, and far less drain on resources!

Eech! I don't do Vista! I'm running XP on all my machines (and Win2000 on my 'extra' machine).

Maybe at a lower resolution it might be a bit easier to see, but on mine, it's way too subtle. Some icons conceal the outline more than others... but none are particularly clear at first glance.

Been laboring under that for years and have made comments too.

Maybe a simpler and more logical thing to do would be to remove the ICONS and substitute the Check Marks? Then it would be in line with the View Menu. There really IS a case for getting rid of these Icons. I am confused enough, my gaze/attention has always been "hobbled" by those Icons. I can understand why they are they, maybe, but now is a time to get to "Less IS More"!

BTW, good suggestion!
