Ultimate S

First thing I did was put an Ultimate S button on my toolbar. Looks like some very good stuff. Good Idea for the setup tab. Could of used the Duo Cam last week, that is a great script.

I tried the film looks and it started rendering away. I decided to cancel out, but the cancel but would not stop the render. It appears the film looks only work for the entire project, not just an event or a track?

You can cancel the render with the ESC key. The cancel button doesn’t work because Vegas has transferred control to Ultimate S (which is a modal dialog) so you can no longer interact with Vegas via the mouse even if Ultimate S calling the Vegas function (which in the case of render it does).

You may have to make sure that the rendering status dialog has the current focus so click on the title bar with your mouse to make sure it has the focus and then press the ESC key and the render should cancel. I thought I put this in the Users Guide but I see that I didn’t. I’ve since added it so this will be documented in the next release of either the Users Guide or Ultimate S.

As for the film looks, here is how they are meant to be used:

In order to get that 24p cadence, your whole project should be 24p. That means you shouldn’t be adding any generated media or anything until you have a total 24p project. Then when you add generated media, Vegas will add 24p generated media.

To use film looks:

Place all of your source video on the Vegas timeline end-to-end with only cuts. Run Ultimate S Film Look. It will render each event as 24p and insert the event back into your project on a new track with a 16:9 Widescreen crop and the film look FX you selected. The individual events will be preserved so you can continue editing. It will also change the project settings to 24p. Now you can delete the original tracks and continue editing your project adding transitions, titles, etc.

It is meant to be used before you start editing to prepare your video media for 24p. If you just want to run it on one event, open another instance of Vegas with just that event, run the Film Look, then render that event and bring it back into your original project.

Thanks for the explanation. Is this other information other than the VASST Ultimate S User's Guide that comes up under the help buttons?
