Ultimate S bug in Visual effects

Has anyone else had a problem with the Visual effects portion of the plug-in?

On one project that I am working on it locks up Vegas every time I try to use it! When I go to another project it works fine. For some reason it just doesn't like the project I am in (and I could really use it!).

It worked in this project before, but now it is causing major problems. I can't even open the Plug-in dialog in this project anymore, I have to change to another project and set the plug-in to a different task (like audio tools) and then I am able to open the Ultimate-S dialog because it isn’t defaulting to the Visual effects tools. As soon as I click on the video effects tab I am locked up again!

I even deleted all the tracks so nothing is in the project and it locks up! It isn't anything in my project that is causing the problem.

Can you send me the .veg file that is causing this problem? (ultimatesupport at vasst.com) I'll see if I can reproduce the problem and figure out what's going on. When the Visual FX tab is selected, it loads the Video FX presets, which are loading the Vegas plug-ins associated with them. Have you changed the presets in any way? It’s odd you that you can load this tab in another project just fine.

Do you have the media bin open by any chance? Are you using multiple bins? I had a problem with the media bin causing a lock up and I thought I had fixed it but perhaps the fix wasn’t aggressive enough.

Try loading Ultimate S in another project (like you were doing) and select the Visual Effects tab but make sure that Timeline is the media source. Then see if it loads in the project you’re having trouble with. If it does, I’ll bet it locks up as soon as you click the media bin as a source. If so, I need to look into this problem again.

Got it!

Yep, this is exactly what I thought it was. I’m on it. Thanks,

Fix it! Thank’s so much for the veg file. I only saw this once while testing and I couldn’t reproduce it so I tried to put in code to catch the symptom but thanks to you, I’ve found the cause. I don’t know how this happens but somehow the root media bin becomes a child of itself and when you recurse into it, it goes into an endless loop handing you back itself as a child.

The fix will be in the next update.
