Unable to edit recorded HDPVR footage

So I bought Sony Vegas Movie Studio when I was on my Bootcamp'd Macbook Pro so I could edit my gameplay footage, which I recorded off of my Hauppauge HDPVR. However I recently upgraded to an actual desktop PC, and with it I cannot edit any footage from my HDPVR. Whenever I import any footage, it imports fine, but as soon as I touch the timeline it freezes and doesn't respond. Depending on the file it crashes and gives me an error message, but it doesn't agree with the .m2ts format at all. I've tried recording in .mp4, but the image is skewed and I only get the top left corner of the recording... and .ts only shows one frame per recording in the preview window.

I've tried doing a "Quickstream Fix" with VideoReDo, which fixes the lock up issue, but then the preview window will only show one frame then change every 5 or so seconds as the video progresses.

I've tried matching the project properties to the video footage, and tried turning off audio event waveforms, I also reinstalled Vegas completely and it still does it.

The error message:

Hello

I also had this problem when i first bought my recorder, i spent about 2 weeks searching on the internet until i clicked on the utilities setting when i opened total media extreme 2. i used the Arc Soft Media Converter to convert the video into a format that could be read by Vegas.

What you need to do is open total media extreme, then click on the Arc soft media converter. then when it opens click add device, scroll through the options and click on Xbox, (Even if you have a PS3 i would still recommend using this format so the file size doesn't crash Vegas.)
Then you just drop your video clips into the converter and take the converted file and put it into Vegas and it should work just fine

Hope that helps
